NETTIE MELINDA PHILLIPS

Nettie Melinda Phillips, daughter of James Riley Barrick and Polly Melinda Crowell Barrick, was born July 13, 1878 and passed away, August 15, 1971 at the Sugar Valley Home, Mound City, Kansas at the age of 93 years, 1 month and 2 days.

She was united in marriage to Elgin Richard Phillips, June 6, 1923 at Mound City, Kansas.  Mr. Phillips preceded her in death, February 2, 1967.

Mrs. Phillips united with the Mound City Christian Church, Aug. 7, 1922.  She had been a member of the Order of The Easter [sic] Star for 50 years.  She was a seamstress for many years.

She is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held at 2 P.M., Wednesday, August 18, 1971 at the Fairchild Chapel, Mound City with the Rev. Cecil M. Orr officiating.  Music was furnished by Bart Schasteen, accompanied by Mrs. Archie Mitchell, organist.

Casketbearers were: Elton D. Wilson, Joe Barrett, Asel Newman, Frank Kenney, Laurence Amer and William H. Shinkle. 

Interment was in Woodland Cemetery, Mound City, under the direction of Fairchild Funeral Home.
