Obituary of MRS. JESSIE M. SHATTUCK FRISBIE

Mrs. Jessie M. Frisbie, 75, well-known Linn county lady, died Sunday at her home following an illness of about four years.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock in the Methodist church conducted by the Rev. O.J. McCulloh, pastor. Music was furnished by a male quartet comprising of Keith Beth, Max Barrier, Joe Ellis and C.H. Porter, accompanied by Mrs. Mattie Bahl, pianist.
Jessie Minona Shattuck, daughter of William and Mary Shattuck was born April 18, 1872, three and one-half miles northeast of Trading Post, Kansas at the family homestead which is now the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Calvin. She grew up in a family of nine children, five girls and four boys. Of this large family only two survive, Mrs. E.L. Calvin of LaCygne, Kansas and Mrs. J.D. Calvin, Boicourt, Kansas.
On October 4, 1896 she was united in marriage to James P. Frisbie and to this union four sons were born, Glenn, Merriam; Wilbur, Kansas City; Arthur, Pleasanton, and Howard of Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
She is also survived by two granddaughters and eight grandsons.
She was a member of the First Methodist church of Pleasanton and was a willing worker in its various activities until her health failed. Her husband died June 29, 1944. Her death occurred on March 14, 1948, thus ending the earthly chapter of another member of a pioneer family which was helpful in making the early history of Linn county.
Pallbearers were Verner Shattuck, Rees Shattuck, Grant Shattuck, Lee Calvin, Homer Calvin and Clifton Calvin. Burial was in the family lot at the Trading Post cemetery.
