MRS. GERTIE EBY IS DEAD

Succumbed in Fort Scott Hospital Christmas Day

Mrs. Gertie Eby, well known Pleasanton lady, died Christmas Day at 5 p.m. in the Fort Scott Burke Street hospital. She had been ill several months and was taken to the hospital on November eighth.

Mrs. Eby was born on September 4, 1874, the daughter of Joseph and Ellen Barrick. On December 14, 1900 she was married to John Eby who preceded her in death on April 30, 1950.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Minnie Babcock, three nieces, Miss Helen Jewell, Wichita; Mrs. Mildred Bartlett, Denver, Colorado; and Mrs. Marjorie Shahan of Jackson, Michigan.

The deceased had lived practically all her life in this community and was indeed a friend of the needy and sick. She was active in civic and club work when her health permitted and also a great lover of flowers.

Funeral services are being held Friday afternoon, January 28 at the Eby home at two o'clock. The Rev. E. M. Goss will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasanton cemetery.
