JOHN BARRICK, 74, DIES. Heart Trouble Causes Death of Man Who Lived Here 48 Years. John Barrick, 74, of 23-1/2 Humboldt avenue, died at 7 o'clock last night at the Main Street Mercy hospital. He had been in poor health for three years and suffered with heart trouble. A resident of Fort Scott for 48 years, Mr. Barrick had been a carpenter for the Missouri Pacific shops and had been employed for 30 years as roof man by the Penniman hardware store. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Barrick, he was born in Woodson County, Kas., November 28, 1860. In 1882 he married Miss Jessie Cox in Pleasanton. She preceded him in death. He leaves one son, Verne Barrick, of the home; a sister, Mrs. Charity Speaks, of Pleasanton, and two brothers, Joe and Ben Barrick, both of Paul's Valley, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Konantz chapel. Submitter's note: The name of the surviving sister should be Mrs. Charles Speaks.
