INA SHATTUCK CALVIN
With the simplest of ceremonies--a few songs and a brief recounting of her life, Mrs. Ina E. Calvin was laid to rest in the LaCygne Oaklawn Cemetery, December 22, 1964.
Mrs. Calvin was the wife of Dillard Calvin, a prominent retired farmer and rancher of Linn county, Kansas, and was a daughter of W.H. Shattuck, who homesteaded the farm where she was born and raised. She lived on the farm and raised her four children, Mrs. Muriel Volkay of Oakland, California, Mrs. Mildred Coffin of Bridgeton, New Jersey, Dale of Miami, Florida and Marjorie of the home, until she and Mr. Calvin retired. The Calvin and Shattuck families have been closely united these many years by the marriage of three Calvin brothers to Shattuck sisters: Elmer Calvin being married to Nettie, Lonnie to Lenora and Dillard to Ina.
The Rev. Raymond Rumbo, minister of the Ohio Street Methodist Church of Butler, assisted by Rev. John Anderson of Prescott, Kansas, retired minister of Prescott, Kansas, conducted the 2 o'clock service at the LaCygne, Kansas Methodist Church. Donald Burnett of LaCygne, the soloist, sang "I've Done My Work" and "Beyond the Sunset," Mrs. Dave Ross of LaCygne the organist.
